Fun with word clouds!

Do you always have this feeling that after listening to all H!P songs you’re fluent in Japanese and that there are no words that can surprise you anymore? Bad news is that Japanese isn’t that easy. Good news is that H!P songs ARE that easy. Well, at least most of them. Even without a translator you can more or less grasp the meaning of the song. Lets look closely at the word clouds made from English translations of the lyrics of three major H!P groups.

MORNING MUSUME

As we can see Morning Musume is all about “love”. The right side shows precisely the very core of every Momusu’s song namely Wows, Yeahs, Heys and Yes’ ๐Ÿ˜€ Lyrics are much about smiling, holding, kissing and generally having good time and super wonderful feelings.  The word “right” caught my attention. I never noticed that much of this word.  Maybe it’s because of the song “Ai Araba it’s alright or I don’t know :/

BERRYZ KOUBOU

Berryz clearly is much more into “love” than MM. And they overuse Yeahs and Wows. That’s not really a surprise. Dance monkey is a WANT according to the word cloud ๐Ÿ˜€ The words in Momusu’s lyrics were more even in the distribution. Here we see a few overused words and than some minor words. Hmm…notice the worde between “come” and “hey” down the cloud. “Chest”? Seriously? When did they use it? I need to re-listen to their singles XD

C-UTE

Surprisingly, C-ute is more into “Bye” than in “Love”. Who would have thought that they’re so pessimistic ๐Ÿ˜€ Just kidding. Of coruse C-ute owns the songs with repetitions. That’s why we have “Bye” from ‘ByeByeBye” and “la” from “lalalaShiawase”. Who enjoys songs with so many repetitions?! The cloud is more varied than Berryz’s and lack the fillers like “wow”, “Hey” and so on. But 0n the other hand “la” is worse D:

*the word cloud lacks two songs : “Shochuu Omimai Moushiagemasu” and “Koero! Rakuten Eagles” because I couldn’t find translations D:

BUONO!

It’s not that different from other word clouds. We have “Lotta” from “Lotta Love” and “Kiss” from “Kiss Kiss Kiss”.

After gathering all the lyrics from H!P songs it’s hard not to notice that most lines are purely random. Well, if they are random than let’s make a random H!P song ๐Ÿ˜€ Tsunku, next smashing hit is on the way!

A song for Momusu (from Momusu’s singles wordbase)

Love ‘s Smile ~Hey future!~

You said you really love me!

I only want to shine (That’s right x7)

It’s just like what’s head of us

Mysterious!

There’s a road ahead of us

The fish that got away was big (That’s right x7)

Life is “Oh yeah, one time”

Yes! Wonderland

Chorus

Ohh, hey, hit parade

Aa, someday Oh yeah Oh yeah CRY CRY

Yeah, I signed up for English school

Jump! Jump! Let’s take off

WOW WOW Oh yeah Oh yeah

Love YES Smile

Oh WOW WOW WOW WO….

Shine! This is me, today

This love is a mystery (That’s right x7)

I won’t kiss just for fun

Help me

Super super super super good feeling

I can’t hide my heart (That’s right x7)

We love convenience stores

Break through!

Nananananananananananana

Nananananananananananana

Nananananananananananana…………..

I can already think of the melody for it ๐Ÿ˜€ And the dance and the cover ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s easy being Tsunku ๐Ÿ˜€

THIS. WAS. AMAZING. I wasn’t even aware some of these words were so prevalent in their songs.

And your song… IT WORKS. Amazing.

And I just noticed that there’s a theme for each group. It’s most obvious in Buono!, but I think it’s because most of the songs were tailored to fit the theme of the anime.

        Uh let’s see how I can describe it… the show was all about feelings and “your true self” and how being honest would make you happy. The cluster of words in Buono!’s picture seems to reflect that… maybe I’m reading too much into it -_-;

sidenote: I just noticed you linked me lol. I will be adding your link in like… five seconds.

Oh now I get it ๐Ÿ˜€ Yeah, the cloud definitely reflects that.

          sidenote: thank you

About the chest thing in Berryz songs:

“kyou de sayonara, mune ga kurushii” <– in seishun bus guide

"mune ga setsunai" <– in Jiriri Kiteru

"anata ga suki mune ga itai" <– in kokuhaku no funsui hiroba

And the list goes on XD

Mune can mean both "chest" and "heart" in some sentences, especially when you say your "chest hurts" ^^

BTW LOL at the Momusu lyrics haha I thought it was real XD
